I know rainbows are from light hitting water droplets and being refracted essentially but I just don’t really understand how rainbows are the same every time. Why are they always the same shape and why are the colors always in that order?

I apologize if I sound dumb, I know this is some 5th grade stuff but it’s been awhile lol.

I have this ChatGPT-esque definition or analogy, I dont mind if it's TOO simplified

just pls tell me if its fundamentally wrong or inaccurate

and if you have a more accurate but equally simple to grasp definition or analogy

We can use the analogy of a "drawer" to simplify the concept of Active Directory. In this analogy, Active Directory can be compared to a drawer that holds and organizes various objects such as users, groups, computers, printers, and other network resources. Each of these objects can be thought of as a file within the drawer, and Active Directory helps manage and categorize them in a hierarchical structure, similar to how a drawer organizes different items. While this analogy captures the basic idea of organization and categorization, it still overlooks the full functionality and complexity of Active Directory.

I just saw a post where a horse was abandoned for a number of years and it's front hooves looked like the bottom of a rocking chair. I've also heard over the years about how farriers are necessary to a horses health. Now obviously horses have been around longer than the folks who take care of their hooves, so what did they do before people?

Did they have to scrape them on rocks or did they just have to wear them down by running? Just curious. Thanks!

It seems like even before the first weekend is over, all the box office analysts have already declared the success or failure of the movie. I know personally, I don’t see a movie until the end of the run, so I don’t have to deal with huge crowds and lines and bad seats, it’s safe to say that nearly everyone I know follows suit. Doesn’t the entire run - including theater receipts, pay per view, home media sales, etc. - have to be considered for that hit or flop call is made? If not, why?

I have seen on twitter a load of astrophysicists alluding to groundbreaking news on 28/9th June.

It has something to do with "Pulsar Timing Arrays" - what are they?

Starting to really look into my retirement, and trying to figure out the baseline differences between these: 401(k) Traditional IRA. Roth IRA. SEP IRA. Simple IRA and Simple 401(k) Solo 401(k)

My company provides a basic 401(k) that I never put much thought into, just set an amount monthly to contribute and that was that.

Is this just on tv? They always weigh the organs and the brain. Why? What can they possibly do with that information?

I'm not sure if I understand what steampunk is. Please explain. Also, is it the same as "steam horror" which I saw mentioned in a comment on Instagram?

Would the phone be completely destroyed in days? Or 2-3 weeks? What about the SIM card?

ELI5 why internet service coverage is how it is- i was looking into getting a different internet provider, but what i wanted isnt available for my address. when i checked the coverage map, it shows covered areas surrounding me, but not in my actual area, less then half a mile away from the covered areas. and theres quite a lot covered around me. why does it work like this? (i apologize if this is the incorrect way to post this question, i just want to clarify what i mean)

I hear coworkers talking about golf handicaps (usually in the 80’s range) and smile/nod my way through the conversation. I’m assuming it’s how many strokes over an 18 hole day?

Usually when I am boiling something like milk or tea, i have to keep looking at it, in order to not let the liquid spill out of the pan while in case of water I don't have to worry about that. Water will just create bubbles as it boils, it won't spill out of the pan, it won't even raise a bit. Why is that?

Most of the research I've done has led back to the Byronic hero, but I have found little about Byronism overall.

I started thinking about spacetime and how it's relative to the speed.

So, knowing our sun is in rotation inside our galaxy, are there points in which the earths rotation causes a person on one side of the earth to accelerate into the direction of the sun's trajectory while a person on the other side travels slower towards the sun's direction.

I know this would be imperceivable to our brain, but I'm curious how much spacetime fluctuates
