Hello all! I've recently been trying to get Diablo 2 to run on my Mac and it proved to be more challenging than I thought and I couldn't find any direct guides so thought this might be a good space to post for someone who wants to know.

  1. Download both of the Diablo 2 Downloaders from Blizzard: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/13867

  2. Install Porting Kit: https://www.portingkit.com/

  3. Create a new app called "Diablo 2" and take the suggestion to use the community installer (or search for it but it's weird for me I've found this to be more reliable)

  4. Leave all suggested settings as default and select the Diablo 2 Downloader when prompted

  5. Complete this setup as normal leaving all options defaulted and put the download directory in your documents somewhere for easy reference in case something happens.

  6. Install a new app called "Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction" and take the suggestion to use the community installer.

  7. Complete this setup as normal as well keeping all settings default and downloading to documents.

  8. Download and extract the latest Sven's Glide 3d Wrapper: https://www.svenswrapper.de/english/

  9. In Porting Kit in your Diablo 2 app go to More (or the gear if in the main menu) > Open C: Drive - Navigate to Program Files (x86) > Diablo II. Copy the contents Sven's wrapper (4 items) into this folder.

  10. Open Porting Kit > More > Launch Wine Skin App > Advanced - change the Windows app to: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -3dfx

  11. Test this or go back and launch it as normal now and it should work

This is a pretty reliable method for me now and while I'm much to afraid to adjust many settings in the Glide 3d wrapper I think it's phenomenal this works at all and hopes this helps someone in the same spot as me play this classic.

I always felt that The Act 1 of Diablo 2 has a darker feel… the atmosphere and the ambiance is bleak and drab, the lore more intriguing than even Act 2 and 3. I don’t know why.

I love bingeing his videos. I never knew there’s new dialog if you return to town in the middle of missions.
