Mount: iOptron CEM40 Telescope: Nexstar 8SE @ f/6.3 Camera: ASI183MC Pro Control: ASIAir Pro

Live stacked with 78 three minute subs. I binned the subs 2x2 to reduce oversampling with the IMX183 chip's tiny pixels.

2 panel mosaic taken with my Rokinon 135mm lens, ASI 1600MM, and RGB/Ha filter set. Reprocessed using the new toolsets (Decon, denoise, and star removal) from RC Astro, and traditional PixInsight HaRGB workflow. Ha blended back in to taste.

The Sun is currently at a high level of activity as we approach solar maximum during the 11 year cycle. This distinction comes from the quantity and size of sunspots that appear on the surface at any given time. The visible dark regions are cooler than the rest of the surface and are caused by a concentration of intense magnetic fields and are the source of solar eruptions. When such highly charged particles arrive at Earth and interact with our magnetic field and upper atmosphere, the result is the spectacular northern/southern lights.

Hello !astrophotography,

Show us your rig!

As we're migrating to the fediverse, we're going to bring over some of our recurring posts from the old sub, including the post your rig thread! We'll likely do a new one once or twice a year as we grow.

Feel free to show off your newest and greatest gear here. It's nice to see some of the different approaches people take to shooting their astrophotos, and it can give some of our newer enthusiasts an example to follow.

Here's a template if you need one. Please post pics of your setup if you can!

  • OTA:

  • Mount:

  • Camera:

  • Filters (if any):

  • Guiding equipment:

  • Barlow/Other accessories:

  • Any software you want to mention:

  • Anything I missed:

  • You guys get the point:
