10 years, 2 million+ karma, permabanned for "violence" for referencing the boxes of liberty metaphor in a comment.

When my FIL what was a veterinarian was cremated, his remains were in a nice wooden box on his old antique desk. My SIL always referred to it as, "Doc in a box."

I read about an 1800sf home in St Pete, not on a flood plane, yesterday... $8000+/year for homeowners insurance. 😳

Make America Florida, Rhonda Santis? I think fucking not....

There were also:

  • Golden Club
  • Supreme Club
  • Centennial Club
  • Platinum Club
  • Apex Club
  • Pinnacle Club
  • 500k Club

Don't have their descriptions anymore since I logged off of RIF but they were all variations of the same sort of thing

RIF still works today for some weird reason, but I'm not logging in. I wanted this adorable scrungy cat to be my last memory of Reddit.

It really does. But I seem to recall they have a history of turning a blind eye to the traffic and ingress/egress issues at the facility

These two things stand out to me:

There’s no plan for the large influx of vehicles, and no backup plan for blocked or stalled traffic [...] There are 1,500 parking spaces, with an estimated 4,500 vehicles expected.

Having been there during one of their Big Water events, and a couple of lower traffic times, it seems like the place would be absolute insanity on the 4th.

I would ask what sane person would subject themselves to the interminable wait times just to get in, park and then leave, but history has shown me there are a shit ton of insane people who will happily endure that kind of thing.

For such a nice facility, getting in and out and parking there is sketchy as fuck. And they seem to not care about it at all.

I'm leaning more toward "incompetence" as the explanation for this. What good does it do Reddit to leave RIF intact, but simply disallow logging in?

Reddit's value depends on content creation and interactions driving ad views. Read-only RIF users create no content or interactions with the site. And for many like me who purchased the premium ad-free version, we see no ads.

Admittedly, I'm not sure if the RIF ads in the free version are Reddit's own ads or not, but without the content creation, and the interactions driving more engagement, RIF does little but drag on the site.

The crack is a doozy and Brad Panovich has posted photos on Twitter that show is been getting worse over the span of a few weeks.

Also, a vid link snarfed from Reddit shows it really well: https://v.redd.it/981d55yaw99b1

Just pulled it up and noticed the same thing. LOL, spez can't even get being an asshole right...

Really not a good look...

30 minute episodes, yes. But over that I tend not to commit...

CHARLOTTE — Mecklenburg County has rescinded a permit for the National Whitewater Center to hold fireworks shows for Independence Day, Channel 9 confirmed on Friday.

The National Whitewater Center had planned on a big fireworks display Monday and Tuesday to celebrate the Fourth of July, but Tuesday’s events will have to go without the rockets’ red glare.

This news comes after Charlotte’s police chief wrote a letter to Mecklenburg County Manager Dena Diorio and Charlotte City Manager Marcus Jones with an outline of lingering safety concerns after he learned that a permit had been approved for the Whitewater Center to host a fireworks show.

A week after his second post-presidential arrest, this one for his alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House, Donald Trump turned to Fox News host Bret Baier on Monday to make the case for why he should lead the country again. But he ended up essentially confessing to the crime of which he’s accused: stealing and sharing top-secret government information.

Before that, however, Baier pressed Trump to explain why he kept the boxes of classified materials at Mar-a-Lago and refused to comply with government requests to return them, as described in his new felony indictment. In between dismissing the case as “the document hoax” or accusing other presidents of illegally hoarding their own sensitive documents, Trump offered the bizarre explanation that he couldn’t give up the boxes to authorities because they also contained… his clothes.

“Like every other president I take things out,” Trump said. “In my case, I took it out pretty much in a hurry. People packed it up and left. I had clothing in there, I had all sorts of personal items in there. Much, much stuff.” After a brief digression to call his former attorney general Bill Barr a “coward,” Trump reiterated, “I have got a lot of things in there. I will go through those boxes. I have to go through those boxes. I take out personal things.” Finally, he clarified what those items were: “These boxes were interspersed with all sorts of things: golf shirts, clothing, pants, shoes, there were many things,” he said.
