The bloodiness of the battles of the American Civil War is often remarked upon, including by contemporary commentators. So it's nice that they emphasized that in the game.

They are also adding loads of wind, solar, and nuclear (6-8 new plants a year!). Objectively speaking, China is not a country we should be worried about in making the green transition. India, Indonesia, and the rest of the developing world face much bigger problems financing and building the necessary infrastructure. And unfortunately, there has been very little headway in tackling these problems.

The layoffs and budget cuts are symptoms, not cause. They've been terribly mismanaged for years -- on the studio side, not EA -- pissing away resources doing essentially nothing.

There seem to be three distinct post-Trek futures:

  • genuine big shot actor
  • reasonably successful voice actor
  • B-movie "star", featured prominently on the poster and appearing for 5 minutes in the actual movie.

Sloppy, but they still succeeded in whacking one guy. The troublesome thing is, they will certainly learn from their mistakes, so subsequent operations will be more sophisticated.

And there will definitely be subsequent operations. India knows that geopolitically the West needs them on-side, no matter what kind of skullduggery they get up to.

Hash functions are not known to be quantum vulnerable (i.e., there's no known quantum algorithm that provides an exponential speedup, best you can do is to use Grover's algorithm to slightly speed up the brute force search). So maybe never.

Well, that's not the notable bit. Almost every year has seen increasing global CO2 emissions since the start of the industrial revolution. But what's interesting is that this year or next year are when global emissions are projected to peak, and then come down. So sometime next year, fingers crossed, we'll be seeing a different headline.

BYD also put lots of resources into electric buses. Anyway the point is that there's multiple game plans EV makers can follow, not only Tesla's.

For all those castigating them for not supporting Biden: imagine the issue is abortion, and the Democrats are upholding a bipartisan anti-abortion consensus, the only difference being they feel bad about it sometimes. Would you still be blasting the women's rights activists trying to raise a stink, and tell them to shut up because the alternative is worse?
