If you're bombed by someone hiding behind human shields, and you do nothing because of the human shields, that means your people are allowed to be bombed with impunity. Compound that with Iran and Hezbollah on Israel's border and you'd be inviting enemies to keep assaulting your civilians.
It's also unclear how many Palestinians have actually died by Israel's hand, because we also know that Hamas has bombed their own civilians and then claimed Israel did it via a disinformation campaign to make Israel look worse, and we also know that Hamas is inclined to inflate those numbers for the same reason.

IMO, the best distro is going to be whatever you're most comfortable with (given it's still getting updates blah blah blah). Some might be easier in the get go but if they do wonky things (compared to what you're used to) an update might really screw you up and leave you in a situation where you're doing a lot of research.
For the most part, you can make any distro do whatever you want, but if you understand one much better than the rest, use that.

I'm not sure I'd call Hamas morons honestly. Hamas, while committing war crimes against both Israelis and Palestinians, have formulated a situation that seems to have made a huge swath of people completely ignore that. They're fighting an information war very successfully through effective disinformation campaigns.

Well, yeah so we have to take that with a grain a salt. It was claimed that the original blockade was meant to be temporary and the reason it went draconian instead of ending after the transition of power was because the transition of power was violent.
