Nice! For me, 17 is by far the most I've ever finished with.

To add to other comments:

  • This wand is much more useful when upgraded, since you get more powerful wards/sentries.
  • The first three zaps produce wards, which shoot a specific number of times.
  • The next three zaps produce sentries, which will zap once every two turns until killed.
  • You can place wards anywhere you have vision, even across walls.

I've tried playing with a staff of warding once or twice, but I don't think I've managed to win yet. It's a fun wand but it requires planning and careful management of charges. One thing I enjoyed doing was placing a couple of sentries in a spot that mob patrols would frequent. No more random mobs to worry about!

Will the effect of the ring apply to the "shared upgrades" talent? I was under the impression that it doesn't, since the weapon level is not actually increased.

I've obtained the amulet with both the tomahawk and the boomerang. Both are awesome. The boomerang comes back, allowing easy repeated use of the sniper skills. The tomahawk, though, can finish off an enemy due to bleeding. Given the choice, though, I'd probably go with a boomerang.

Oh, that's a good idea! I used to just leave a pile of items somewhere on the level and then I have to return for them. Dropping them down a chasm is much more convenient.

A way to deal with them is to have them follow you to a door. Once you go through the door and they enter it, you're guaranteed to hit. They usually die on the first hit. Just make sure you know what's behind the door :-)

Amazing! It sounds like a quite difficult challenge.

I hate them DM-201s... If I have good melee damage, I like to use a stone of blink to get next to them, then just whack them. They're tough, though, so having a potion of healing handy is a good idea.

I'd put the gnoll shamans and the dwarf warlock in a new tier at the bottom. I hate those guys.

Eating takes a few turns (I don't know how many). I've been killed by ranged attacks from mobs who approached me while eating. I always make sure to spend talent points on the "eating takes one turn" ability.
