Thank you so much for saying this! One time there was a Twitter thread that started with someone asking, "What are some things that people believe/accept without having liked into it further." Someone responded with this "the original phrase is... covenant...womb" and the OP replied with someone like, "yeah people are such sheep". I wanted to explode.

But to back your point, you can go and read for yourself the very first instance of this phrase in context as the very old book it comes from has been digitally scanned. It's old enough to be in middle English, but I still thought it was fairly easy to make out the original phrase as we know it today.

It's definitely frustrating when they escape but that's part of where the "being patient" thing comes in. Even if they jump over you and you have to walk them to the other corner, that's fine because you have the time to do that.

Reacting is hard to give advice on. The best I can do is reiterate about spacing. Technically the further away from then you are the more time you gave to react to them doing all sorts of stuff. Obviously you can't just stay super far away from them but you might see if standing just a little further away than you currently do makes the difference.

I understand your frustration with people walking backwards. It's pretty strong in general but there are ways to play against it. I personally had this issue because my character (Marisa) has no lows that grant a combo other than cr.lk which is never in range to hit if they're actively walking away.

So here is what I would advise:

  1. Actually dash forward. For a long time I basically forgot that dashing forward is a real option. Obviously you can't spam it but it should move you forward faster than them walking backward.

  2. Learn to value them giving up screen space. This one is a change in perspective. Them just walking backward and you walking forward should be considered a win all on it's own. They will eventually walk themselves into a corner which means better pressure and damage for you. This of course doesn't work if you let them escape the corner once there, so you need to have your antiairs sharp and ready to go. Additionally, you need to think differently about your spacing, stand somewhere that's going to make it the hardest for them to escape. Lastly for this point you need to remember that it's not a race. You have TONS of time on the clock so just be patient and don't rush things and overextend.

As for drive rush checking, if you're getting blown up by fireballs, my guess is that you're checking with too big of a button. Even if it only get a jab out of it they still spent their bar and you're likely in a decent pressure situation afterwards.

This is interesting because this word does get used in American English, but it's pronounced like "row your boat" not like wow.

In a similar vein to deadcade's comment, Ripcord also exists also an alternative. If this exchange had happened a few months ago I would've recommended it above anything - but unfortunately it hasn't been updated in a very long time at this point and it's starting to cause some core functionality to not work.

EDIT: It's pretty much exclusively the Slack functionality that doesn't work anymore. The Discord side is great and is IMO has a much more useful UI, ex: you can group arbitrary channels from any number of servers into a single group which is presented in the UI pretty much as a new server. No more server hopping to check out all of your favorite channels!

I don't know what phone they're talking about, but PinePhone disables sensors via hardware kill switches, i.e. nothing on the phone can use the sensors because they're physically not connected anymore.

I like SourceTree and it's free. I don't use it all the time, but if I've made a bunch of changes debugging something and I want to easily discard all of the debugging-only changes, the UI makes it really easy to commit or discard individual lines from the changeset.

Additionally, I set up an alias to open it from the command line (stree) and have it show whatever git directory I opened it from.

Haven't seen these mentioned yet:

  1. Terror In Resonance

This is one of the newer shows made by Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo). Follows the crew of a small terrorist organization as they implement their various plots - lots of intrigue that makes you want to keep watching.

  1. Megalobox

Follows a boxer's journey in a semi-dystopian future. Very mature and themes of adulthood, especially season 2. And I mean real life mature, not gore and titties. I've never watched an anime that I found so relatable as an adult human being. Music is also extremely top tier and I'm personally a huge fan of it's animation style.
