Yes, this is required. This aids in the discovery of communities that the user may not have considered joining. Or they were aware of the idea but lacked a keyword to locate the community.

Been a slide user on reddit for a few years , had to reluctantly move away when the Reddipocalypse happen to Sync because it was the first to be "patched" for inserting a custom client-id.
While Sync is great , Slide is straightforward , no bells and whistles experience. But gotta have 2FA.
PS now that Slide-Reddit can be patched with a custom client-id , just removed Sync-Reddit and went back to Slide-Reddit. 😀
