@lemmy_stitch @crossstitch @christianstitchers @textilearts @fiberarts @fibrearts Well, now it's a #Cat toy. Our #Kitty was so depressed that Husband got gifts for his birthday and she didn't have anything to open, I felt obligated to give it to her so she didn't feel left out. So now I have to make a new one for *me*. At least she likes it! And she's not depressed anymore! ๐Ÿ˜„ @christianartists #CrossStitch #Embroidery #Sewing #Ladybug #Ladybugs #Cats #Catstodon #CatsOfMastodon #Handmade

@lemmy_stitch @crossstitch @christianstitchers @textilearts @fiberarts @fibrearts I originally started this as a solution to my #BadHabit of holding my needle in my mouth while getting more embroidery floss ready in between colors as I #CrossStitch. My idea was 2 make a #PinCusion that had Velcro on the bottom, so I could either wear it as a bracelet while stitching or use it on a table if I needed to...

#FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem
I got this one off of a #FlossTube video on YouTube awhile back-- Steering wheel covers repurposed as #GrimeGuards for #CrossStitch or #Embroidery! Probably for small #Quilting projects, too. These came from #DollarTree & only cost a few dollars. They fit pretty snuggly around my largest Q-Snap frame, too. ๐Ÿ˜„
@lemmy_stitch @crossstitch @christianstitchers @embroidery @quilting @charitystitchers #GrimeGuard

#FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem I guess this may be more of a #Hack than anything, but it helps keep #Embroidery scissors from being quite so easily lost. Mini split rings can b found in the #Jewelry making section of most department & #Craft stores. Attach one 2 one loop on your scissors & attach a key chain (I found mine in the jewelry making section 2) with a larger split ring 2 the mini split ring. Voila! Scissors that are far less likely to walk off! @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch

@DarkNightoftheSoul I'll see what aI can do. Thanks for the suggestion! ๐Ÿ˜„ I kind of tried a couple of times with a post or two, but sometimes it's harder to show if you're not *right there.* But I will try harder to do that. ๐Ÿ˜„ Thanks so much again! ๐Ÿ˜„

[โ€“] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

@DarkNightoftheSoul I'm sorry...not meaning to spam. I just love finding new "toys" to do #CrossStitch with, and I love to share the things that make me happy so others can enjoy them too! ๐Ÿ˜„

#FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem An after market cup holder/console organizer that normally would fit between your vehicle's console & one of your seats. BUT those who #CrossStitch, #Sew, #Quilt, #Knit, etc, can fit it between the arm of their couch or recliner & their seat cushion 2 organize small things or 2 use as on #ORT collector! Normally costs $10 or less & can b found in most automotive accessories sections of department or automotive tools stores @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch

@kat_angstrom I have some, but I normally stitch in-hand so a needle minder doesn't really work for me...but maybe I can attach one to my bobbin box! Then it doesn't HAVE to be attached to my work to work! Wow! #InspirationHasHit!!! ๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜„ What a brilliant idea! Thank you!!! ๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜„๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜„

@KittenBiscuits @Nima I know they make pincushion bracelets, but I would think it would be a bit awkward and I'd probably*still* forget to use it! ๐Ÿ˜…

I have a HUGE favor to ask of all my #StitchyFriends...

BASIC #StitchingSafety states that one should refrain from holding #PinsAndNeedles in one's mouth while working.

Unfortunately, this has been a #BadHabit about 40 years old now.

If you all would be so kind, PLEASE remind me periodically that my #Embroidery needle doesn't belong in my mouth while #Stitching.

My poor, sore tongue thanks you.

#FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem I actually got this one off Facebook awhile back. Florescent #FishingLine! Great for #Gridding in #CrossStitch or #Basting in #Quilting or #Sewing. It's bright enough 2 be seen, but slippery & strong enough that your needle won't pierce it while #Stitching. If I remember correctly, it comes in more than just neon yellow, too. Can be found in almost any #SportingGoods department or store. @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch @quilting @sewing @christianstitchers

@Sarah @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch The one my Husband has is actually REALLY SMALL. Until I actually saw it, I didn't think a grab tool could be that little and actually work! You may want to see if you can find one in a store to see for yourself if it may be the right size to help.

@Sarah @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch
I'm sorry! Scratch that! They have a tool you might be able to use for that too! A flexible grab tool!!This pic is of a set Walmart carries for around $7. It includes the telescoping magnet tool, a magnetic bowl (also great to keep track of #PinsAndNeedles) and the flexible grab tool. You push the button on the end to open the little claw. These should also be found in most automotive tool stores. #FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem

@Sarah @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch Maybe you could get one and put double-sided tape on the end so they stick to the tape when you need to pick them up?? It *might* work! ๐Ÿ˜„

#FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem

Mechanics normally use a #Mechanics Telescoping Magnetic Pick-Up Tool 2 pick up small bolts & other metal that have fallen as they work, but those who #CrossStitch, #Sew, #Quilt, etc., can use it to pick up lost pins & needles so they don't wind up goosing someone when they sit on the couch. ๐Ÿ˜… Can be found in almost any automotive store or automotive tool section in Walmart. Some versions even have flashlights on the end! @lemmy_stitch @crossstitch

@kerravonsen @lemmy_stitch @crochet @knitting Yes! Exactly! I usually work from a table or a TV tray, and we don't have much room, so it's perfect for me and it holds my tablet exactly where I can see it best! ๐Ÿ˜„

#FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem
This is a Monster Dual Adjustable Dashboard Car Mount - Normally for two cell phones or one large one for use in a vehicle. But I found it and immediately knew it would help me immensely when I #CrossStitch because it's compact and it takes up far less room than my tablet's case/cover stand. You can find it at Advance Auto at https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/monster-double-vision-2-in-1-foldable-dash-mount-2mncm0112b0a2/12252355 or on Amazon

@Sabre363 Lol. I don't think that will help much in my case...๐Ÿ˜…

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

@verity_kindle Lol. Husband and I got into a HUGE argument one day because he doesn't like butter that's not easy to spread. So I showed him the package, which clearly states...*ahem*... "Must Be Refrigerated." ๐Ÿ˜„

I propose a new hashtag for #CrossStitchers to follow! #FantasticCrossStitchTools or #FantasticCrossStitchToolsAndWhereToFindThem . (Yes, kind of a shameless take on J.K. Rowling's Fantastic Beasts series. But better! Because it has to do with #CrossStitch!)

So, this is to share all our favorite tools & where we found them so others can search them out & enjoy them too. If it's been gifted, it's okay to share it too, but each share has to include where you got it.

I have been informed that using packing tape to somewhat "laminate" labels on my attempts to reorganize my #EmbroideryFloss #Stash is too noisy at the current hour... Therefore I have been relegated to #CrossStitch for the moment instead... Wow. Twist my arm there... ๐Ÿ˜‰

I know this is #Embroidery instead of #CrossStitch (for the cross stitch groups), but I found this on X (that's such an awful name, isn't it?) and thought it was really cute so I wanted to share. I know there are some out there who organize similar animations with cross stitchers, too, but I've never gotten to participate.

Enjoy!

I...kinda sorta bought some more embroidery floss today. Three thread packs at Hobby Lobby. They package it as "Artiste" but it's actually manufactured in Mexico by a company that sometimes goes by "Hilo Iris" and other times simply by "Iris." I found a color list from 2011 online, and a DMC conversation chart they compiled themselves. But, being the OCD idiot I am, I decided to try to match the threads myself...
