As someone who wasn't alive for System Shock (the original), and who didn't expect to love the Remaster of it as much as she did...this sequel has me very excited.

A key for the game will also be free for those who pre-ordered the first remaster.

And for System Shock 2, while mods like Rebirth do exist for SS2's original game, there IS some issues with some 'choices' they made!

The Steam page is also here, for anyone wanting Steam over GOG

Anyone else excited for this one?

That's what this image is from! PCSX2 via the configurator. I use RetroDECK on my Steam Deck.

It runs perfectly! Absolutely perfect. I also use some HD texture packs, replacing the vanilla textures to make it look extra fancy :)

Announcing they'd have native Linux support with a launcher and then never mentioning it again, hoping that everyone would forget?

That feels pretty awful to me, a Linux user. Obviously negated since we have such lovely work as Heroic (the dev of which is a personal friend), but it is the odd strange misstep like this which strikes me as being pretty sad.

Then we have developers never updating their games on GOG. Admittedly not a GOG problem, per se, but they could pressure these developers so that this kind of issue wouldn't persist. There are SO many games which do this, that the GOG forums have a dedicated thread for this very issue: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_that_treat_gog_customers_as_second_class_citizens_v2/page316/?search=second%20class At the moment, there are 4,729 replies on that thread.

GOG Galaxy 2.0 is nigh-on-abandoned now, with constant problems. There's a slew of posts about it on all Reddit, their forum and on social media.

They have their issues. I adore them, but they have their issues.

Good point! Edited my profile to have a 'find me on Lemmy' with my profile link! 'appreciated :)

Oh yes! You did! Feb 21st, to be precise!!! (I still haven't played Ender Magnolia yet tho!)

My username (on reddit, and subsequently on Mastodon) was flwwhtrbt. Its pretty simple, just 'follow the white rabbit' - my fav scene from The Matrix.

I like the combination of Alice Through the Looking Glass, and someone following me into some dark journey to what you can do, run and eploit on systems :)

Thank you!!!

I'd be pretty tempted by Tony Hawk's, but the recent news that 3+4 will finally be getting remade makes me hesitate to play. Since the experience will probably be better there!

For the plethora of HD textures I've found. I know it seems ironic, because of native PC resolutions, but fans have taken texture replacements to a whole other level with these. I just tend to try them out and compare them to the PC version. This was one of the few I found made a significant difference, at least in my eyes.

I'm the exception to gaming, I have maybe 20-ish games on Steam, but '000's on GOG. I've always had a thing for the underdog, maybe that's what made me focus on them from the start. I just love their platform, and their ethos. They'll never be a competitor to Steam or Epic Games, but I don't think they're trying to be any more.

I just love them!

I do so wish the GOGdb site acted in the same way as the Steam one did:

https://www.gogdb.org/

Instead, it runs in a different way making it far less helpful than, as you said, SteamDB!

You know I was never a car girl...for the most part. But the last 12 months or so I have become obsessed with rally racing: the games, and the history (Group B!). From there I ended up watching general car movies, like Le Mans (or is the title The 24 Hours of Le Mans? I never remember), and finally...yes, just finished watching the original two Fast and Furious movies just last week! I think I like the second one most, it is cringe, but in a fun nice way!

Thank you, this looks perfect!

HEY THAT'S AMAZING!!!

Must be sad to be so in love with a game which seems to be mostly forgotten, but I love her shrine :)

...from what I've read and seen in the past, that game can be rather risky on one's thumbsticks due to all the efforts in making yourself look as amazing as possible.

(sounds worth it, tbh, thanks!)

hey, flwwhtrbt here! (self.steamdeckpirates)

Hello all!

I just joined back onto Lemmy after only sticking to Mastodon for so long. And of course in my search for Steam Deck communities, I saw this one was in place!

Its interesting seeing how many subscribers there are here (though, sadly how few are active members!)

I suppose this is my round about way of offering my help, I think somewhere I still have a copy of my old guides. At the very least, I wouldn't mind starting up my news posts again.

Mod, reach out if you like!

Wait, who are you?

I was the mod who brought r/SteamDeckPirates from being around 3K members to 35K during 2024, before I left the sub and Reddit. Flwwhtrbt.

Why did you leave?

It was time, there was one-too-many awful users who dedicates a lot of time to hassling me, and I felt I had done all I needed to do there. More besides, but that's the gist.

How do we know its you?

Reach out to agaric on the reddit sub. He and I are still friends. Or to me, on my Mastodon. The link to which is in the pinned latest news post on the sub I made last week or so.

Why are you here?

IDK. I can share my guides, if I can find them. I do so enjoy compiling news posts, I'd rather enjoy doing that again. Just offering help I suppose!

And one final note:

I did apply twice to dbzer0 for an account, and was denied twice. Which felt...odd, but whatever. So my account is on Lemmy.world

I'm weirdly unable to comment or submit a post to this community on my PC (this is a me problem, its been years since I was on Lemmy - the 3rd Party Protest era - so my inability to navigate is just me being an idiot), but I am via my app. So...who knows what's going on there. I also added what I hope will be considered 'verification' of who I am - on my bio on Mastodon there in the image

Also lovely to see you all!

I've been sinking further and further into the RetroDECK time-sink of setting up my emulators just so, and having the most fun doing so. The PS2 is a largely unknown system to me, I neither had one nor spent much time before now playing through some titles.

So...this is what I have so far! Most have either HD texture packs (Rule of Rose for example, and also Silent Hill 2 has a incredibly big 29GB of HD textures, I added after taking this screenshot), or mods applied (Gran Turismo is Spec II)

I haven't got MGS3 there, as I'm waiting for the remake to arrive, but...

Can anyone suggest any titles which are 'must adds' for me? I'd appreciate it!

Nice to see a platform like GOG becoming so proactive these last 12 or so months (or, more so than they were previously)

With so many new initiatives (or in the case of the Dreamlist!) - re-imagined ones!

Dino Crisis and the sequel weren't my kind of games, even being made specifically for modern hardware. I'm too young to have the nostalgia or patience for the so called 'tank controls' of the old days. But I still bought them to support the initiative. I'm just one of those poor fools waiting and hoping for a modern sleek remake, like the Resident Evil games were blessed with!

STILL, so nice to see this billboard in a prominent space! Nice work, GOG.
