This morning I was half asleep and couldn't decided what I wanted to wear. So I used my randomizer tool, which landed on BPAL Pearl Necklace (notes:Skin musk dribbling with pear cream, orris root, vanilla bean, and raw honey.). I'm so glad I picked up a bottle of this one. It's one of my favorites of this year's Lupercalia. It's sweet fresh pear with vanilla and a touch of honey. Really lovely scent.
I have a concert tomorrow that I've been looking forward to all year! Meeting up with my sister and her fiance to see 2 of my favorite bands in Detroit. Tickets were bought in January and I've been so excited. Also yay! My Sorcellerie Apothecary order finally shipped, this will be my first order from them and I'm stoked to try them out.
Today I wanted something that would last through my busy workday, so I went with BPAL Serpent in the Roses, (notes: Snake Oil dribbling across a cluster of amber-flecked, blackened rose petals). This has quickly become a favorite of mine. It's a perfect dark floral for warm weather. And it's still detectible 12 hours after I put it on this morning!
Today I'm testing Poesie Thrushcross Grange(Notes:creamy pumpkin flesh & soft vanilla creme, caramelized sugar, a faded whisper of honeysuckle). I know Poesie's scents tend to be softer, but I'm hoping more rest is just needed to bring this one out more. I received these Monday, so they are only a few days out of the mail. Everything is just barely there. I get the soft creamy pumpkin and vanilla. That's about it. Fingers crossed for more development as it rests/ages.
Today is Arcana Wildcraft Sagittarius (Notes: warm woods, benzoin resin, sacred incense, bittersweet Peruvian chocolate, dark amber, cedarwood shards, and black Mexican vanilla). This one is a nice woodsy blend. I smell the chocolate in the bottle but it doesn't come through on my skin. It reminds me a lot of Solstice Scents Manor. The sharpness of the cedar is balanced well with the incense and vanilla.
Today is SugarMilk Co Butterbeer (Notes: Butterscotch, caramel, and vanilla sugar). This is simple butterscotch! I picked it up during the Harry Potter 9 & 3/4 sale. It's a lighter throw than some of my other scents by this house, but I'm enjoying it anyway.
Today it's another bottle from my recent Arcana Wildcraft order. I'm wearing Phoebus (Notes: Smoked vanilla, sweet resins, red musk, marshmallow, and fiery woodsmoke). I'm getting major BPAL Snake Oil vibes from this! Even though it's missing the patchouli, I could almost swear I put on the wrong perfume. Phoebus has that slightly smokey quality, it's balanced really nicely with the vanilla and marshmallow to temper the sweetness. I'm curious to see if additional rest/aging brings out the smoke more.
Today I'm trying out Arcana Ursa major (Notes: darkly feminine mix of feral black musk, sweet tobacco leaf, wild blackberries, clove bud, and a hint of ursine fur.). When looking up reviews for the Constellations collection, I saw 2 reviews that made me want to try this perfume. "If this perfume was a woman I would want her to step on me", and "Big dom energy". I totally get it. This blend is dark and sexy musk. The tartness of the blackberries comes through. I'm quite enjoying this one.
Curious to see what products you guys have picked up this summer? I'm eagerly awaiting fall releases (or maybe not, student loan payments are going to kill my budget). But I have shopped a few summer collections. Primarily Arcana Wildcraft. I picked up a few bottles during their night tripping fairies, and Constellation collections.
There's a lot of different departments, it'd be cool to get in somewhere! I imagine some of it gets pretty gnarly, but I figure by the time things get to the benchtop it's not too bad.
I'm hoping to branch into Forensic science working for the state police. That's what I originally went to school for. I've got several applications in and fingers crossed! I like my job. But after 5 years here I'm getting burnt out with the job environment. Under paid and underappreciated. But I'm hoping the 5 years of lab experience is a good stepping stone.
I had a long night and early morning after a concert last night, so I wanted a comfy fragrance today. I went with BPAL Everyday is Halloween (Notes: Skin-warmed sandalwood and toasted pumpkin settle into a gentle blend suitable for all 365 days of Halloween.). This one is such a wearable pumpkin I love it. It's realistic toasty pumpkin, and the creamy sandalwood rounds it out. It's fall without being heavy or spiced. One of my favorite BPAL bottles. Oh! And I'm also trying out Luvmilk dusting powder! I'm using the scent Wedding Day (notes: baked blackberry pastries, vanilla, lemon sugar, juicy peaches, and cognac rose petals). I picked up a couple of these on exchange. I'm trying them out at work under my gloves. Hoping it will help reduce my eczema I get in the summer due to sweating in my gloves, plus hoping it helps extend my nail polish wear time!
