I suggest the ones home Depot sells with the yellow handle on one side, it's much more comfortable and helpful on the harder to cut stuff. Cut through coax with them like nothing.
Wow there's a lot going on here, yes that is a drum trap, check if there's a floor drain that's dried out in your laundry room and pour some water in it. I'm surprised your washer doesn't spill over because a minimum standpipe is 18 inches in most areas and yours looks a lot less than that. Also drum traps are illegal in most codes now.

Oddly enough the good place and Bojack horseman were ending around the same week, so I watched both finales back to back and I assumed I'd be sad after Bojack but the good place is what really made me an emotional mess. It was so good. Also I suggest the podcast. Host by marc Evan jackson(he plays Shawn) he is so good as a podcast host that I feel like he needs to do so more often.
