Are the 'chunks' the TVP?

Sure, you can choose not to reply, but we're supposed to bea tight knit community of like minded people. It would feel like a slight to ignore a request.

If I was posting on a blog or something, sure. That's developed to promote your content to a wide audience. That has no value to me, I wouldn't put in the effort and wouldn't subject myself to that relationship with the audience.

You don't walk into a stranger's home and ask them for step by step instructions how they made dinner because you likes how it looked in the window vs it being normal and polite to inquire about how someone made something they are serving you in their home.

I have never thought of adding pickled onions but I will next time! It sounds like the perfect way to add acidity.

I am very lazy and threw gochujang, soy sauce and corn syrup in a sauce pan and called it good enough.

Veggie and lentil stew (self.veganhomecooks)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Arcanepotato to c/veganhomecooks

I took a few photos to show the different steps. I cooked the zucchini, carrots and tomatoes in an electric pressure cooker then added lentils, beans, pepper, spices for round two.

All the veg appart from the carrots and ginger are from the garden.

After first cooking:

Breakfast slop (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by Arcanepotato to c/veganhomecooks

Frozen berry mix, quick oats, chia seeds, hemp hearts and ground flax seeds.

I stole the "recipe" from an expensive breakfast cereal my coworker used to eat every day at work. It's very filling and has a lot of fiber.

(Edited to upload a different picture after it 'cooked'. Whoops!)

I had to make myself cook something to avoid wasting some homegrown produce that was past its prime. I'm more squimish about food being 'bad' than I want to admit, so I'm proud I was able to make this delicious meal.

We were able to get some garlic after we took preventative measures and cut back the scapes. Only a few of the garlic had apparent damage on them (shown below), but the total harvest was less than we recall planting.

We will dig a new bed in another part of the garden and hope for better next year. Luckily we still have a lot of last year's garlic powder to get us though and can use use cloves for some fresh eating and to plant next year's crop.

I used tomatoes that I grew and froze, tomatoes I canned but didn't grow, carrots I grew and canned, zucchini I grew from this year.

Vegan guard orphan? (self.vegancirclejerk)

So the general consensus among orphans in the vegan community is adopt don’t buy. Feed orphans well and don’t keep them in kennels all day. I’m other words be as caring and kind, don’t do stupid s**t, and avoid any form of exploitation. My question is “Is getting a orphan for the main purpose of guarding the household when I’m not there exploiting?” The definition of exploit says is to fully use or derive use from. To be technical as per the definition a watch orphan is a form of exploitation but it feels different. What y’all think? Are guard orphans okay? Is it only certain circumstances?

Will this be the year we finally keep up with the tomatoes? Who knows!

There was some clear insect damage at the bottom of the plants so I took off most of the branches below the first set of string trellises. Hopefully removing the excess leaves will improve air flow and minimize the number of slugs/snails that make their way to the fruit.

The next step if we continue to see damage is to add copper netting around the bottom.
