I see, that makes a lot of sense. Honestly though the idea of being more comfortable around us because we can't "force ourselves on them" is really dumb. Like ignoring the fact that there's more ways to force oneself onto someone else, most of us who are non-op can't even penetrate if we wanted to, I can still get hard enough to do it but the last time I tried, it hurt really bad and became very irritated and swollen afterwards, but others I've known and dated can't even get hard anymore at all, for them it's physically impossible to penetrate someone else, surgery or not. I feel like many people out there just don't understand this aspect and the fact that penis atrophy is a real thing, and even if you use it regularly the changes still very often make that type of activity impossible or extremely unpleasant.

Also yeah I was assigned male at birth. I don't look it bc I'm lucky to have been able to get blockers and HRT when I was young :)

Like there are some people who think that we're not valid if we don't. Don't people know how expensive and painful it is. Plus some of us just like what we got ya know. I'm proud to be a trans girl who still has the bits. Why is this so hard for people to understand? Also some people seem to think it's much more common than it actually is.

Preventing people from saying "lesbian" sounds homophobic to me.

All the people here comparing CSAM and Piracy clearly don't understand how severe CSAM is compared to piracy, that or they're making an obvious strawman to attempt to derail the conversation because they can't actually make any good arguments.

Here's the short version because I've already explained the difference:

CSAM is sexual material depicting children, it is one of the most disgusting and heinous crimes there are.

Piracy is Copyright infringement and is typically a civil matter, in some cases it may turn criminal but is not and cannot be compared to CSAM material in terms of severity, and attempting to do so is dishonest and disgusting (it shows you lack understanding of the severity of CSAM as a crime).

Also FYI I said it earlier in another thread but dbzer0 doesn't allow links or content to be hosted there which renders the whole content federation argument dead in the water since there is no links to pirated material or hosted pirated material that would get copied over here though activitypub Read their rules or shut up, any continued arguments about the content federation problem are either based on lies or hypothetical scenarios that aren't happening and thus aren't relevant.

Simply “discussing” child pornography is fine too?

You just compared Piracy and CSAM... didn't you... 🤦‍♀️

FYI for those who don't know this is called a strawman argument, they're often used by people who don't have a valid point to make or aren't capable of formulating a reasonable counterargument because they can derail the conversation and change the argument.

In this case comparing Piracy and CSAM doesnb't make sense because they are extremely different types of crimes and also differ greatly in severity. CSAM is much more severe than Piracy in any form, because it is sexual abuse material or depictions of children (either real or fabricated) it is a very heinous and awful crime. It represents significant irrevocable harm to a person either physically, emotionally, or many times both.

Piracy on the other hand is infringing on someone's copyright, it is a civil matter and even in cases of large commercial piracy it is still not seen in the same light as something as despicable as CSAM, some might argue that it could cause significant monetary damage, but even that is nowhere near as awful as the damage CSAM causes and has caused to people. It's honestly so terrible that the fact that you would try to use it as a gotcha to win a this petty piracy debate is honestly disgusting, it shows that you are a disgusting person who doesn't understand how severe of a crime or accusation that is.

Let's also not ignore the fact that these communities literally prohibit Links or content from being posted to them. So even if people make the Federation argument about cross-hosting it's all moot in the end because the community doesn't allow it in the first place.

Here is a link to the rules of the Piracy community you will notice if you have any form of reading comprehension (or if you actually read it and aren't just trolling, like many people here) that rule 3 specifically prohibits linking to or hosting files, which many people making the federated hosting argument seem to leave out of the equation, likely because it destroys their argument altogether since their argument is about illegal content being hosted, but no illegal content is hosted in the first place (and any that is usually is removed by the mods for breaking the rules, just like it is here on Lemmy.world).

I'm pretty sure bot accounts are always displayed, they use the bot flag to block the bots from communities that mods otherwise might not want them in.

Aww you didn't seem to like what I said did you, darling. I'm not planning on not saying things just because it bothers you, Stay mad, trolls 😎 🏳️‍⚧️

This is a bit off-topic but why do you have a bot account flag when you seem to be commenting as a normal user?

[–] AllukaTheCutie7725 4 points 1 year ago

Seems to be a lot of people making assumptions in the comments here ☹️

Decentralized will always be better than centralized. Though I will agree that activitypub isn't great for this. Don't know if we can do better though than ActivityPub though, seems like the best Decentralization solution I've seen but it's still not great, could be much better IMO.

People all over this thread trying to say they linked to content clearly haven't been there, they absolutely do not link to content directly and it's even against their rules, so if you make an argument about "lemmy.world can't host illegal content" or "links are illegal content" these are Moot points because they neither host content on that server, nor directly link to it.

Starting to seem a lot like the EEE (Embrace Extend Extinguish) we were warned about with threads, not exactly the same since lemmy.world isn't a big-tech corpo but there are similarities, also it's kind of ironic that this instance also hasn't cut off threads like the others have.
