Kicking off my appreciation of this new community with my Sheaffer's collection. I absolutely love the Snorkel. It's a little bit of a pain to work on, but so cool and easy to use.

My faves here are the blue Statesman and the red vein Balance. Not pictured are any of my modern Sheaffer's, or later cartridge based student pens.

Maybe I'll post my Wearevers soon. Such cheap pens, but they had lovely celluloid.

Thanks! With the exception of the blue snorkel, I got most of them in rough shape in need of repair. Actually, the blue one was supposedly restored according to the seller, but the sac leaked and the nib was scratchy. It was easier for me to just fix it than to start any kind of claim with them, though.

I have two more on my wishlist. There's a periwinkle snorkel, and a model of touchdown that you just need to dip the tip in the ink to fill it. I don't recall the model right now, though.

What a nice collection! I am really intrigued by the snorkels!

Thank you! The snorkels are so cool. If you're not familiar, when you unscrew the back, it extends a tube out of the feed. This tube goes directly to the sac. When you pull the unscrewed back out, there's a metal tube. This tube is sealed to the body for most of its travel. Pressing it down causes air pressure to squeeze the sac, and the seal is broken at the bottom of the stroke. This releases the pressure, and the sac sucks ink up through the tube (which should have been dipped into the ink prior to pressing down). Then, you just screw the back cap back down, retracting the tube! No need to wipe the nib!!

Awesome collection! I'm waiting for my Sheaffer Imperial VIII I won on auction. I'll put up some pictures when I get it.

Thank you! Congratulations on your win, I look forward to seeing it. Man, Imperials are so cool looking. I think they're sleeker looking than the Parker 51, but I'm admittedly a Sheaffer's fan. What color did you get?

The listing says black, but I'll see when it gets here. Should be here by the end of the week. 😀
