The new CBA requires each team to spend 90% of the salary cap ($122.4M) by the first day of the regular season.

Here are 5 teams that need to spend in free agency:

🏀Houston: $50.5M 🏀San Antonio: $26M 🏀Sacramento: $24.5M 🏀Indiana: $18.5M 🏀Detroit: $14.5M

Pacers are going to be interesting as they have a pretty full roster at the moment, so they're either going to need to make a somewhat expensive signing or they'll need to organize a trade with mismatched salary.

Personally I think they'd prefer a trade with a salary that doesn't last too long (no more than 2 years) as Haliburtion will get his rookie contract max starting next year so they'd want some salary now but not for too long. That would make Tobias Harris kinda perfect for them, but it sounds like the price for him is insane given the pacers would take on salary in aquiring him.

Are you sure the roster is full? There might be some flexibility with some 2 way contracts or end of bench guys who can be cut for a salary filling FA.

This explains why Houston is willing to throw $40 mill a year at Fred VanVleet
