For what it's worth, anti-seize compound has the added benefit of preventing accidental/vibrational loosening. The high-temp (copper) stuff is pretty damned universal. Obviously, LocTite is what we all think of, but it won't prevent rusting. It's only my opinion, but every bolt on my bike gets one of those two.

Here we discuss everything related to riding, maintenance and gear.
What bike is it?
Harley XL1200N 2009.
Glad you're ok. I have a KLR 650 for my road bike, and it tends to eject it's bolts on a regular basis. I haven't had one snap yet.
This is the first time it has ejected bolts, even though it's a Harley! :D But I suspect it was due to the bolts already being compromised... bolts don't just snap like that. I really hope it's not gonna be a PITA to get them out
It's sheared off pretty clean. They can probably notch it and use a screwdriver. If they have to use an easy-out, it's a bad day.
"They" are me in this case, no shops have any space right now. But I just had a look at them, and it doesn't look impossible... might be enough if I bang them a bit with a flathead, and then I can probably get them out with pliers. Finding imperial size hex bolts here in Europe will probably be harder 😃
Not sure but it looks like some kind of Sportster. Glad nothing bad happened to the point where you got injured, OP!
Love that you could tell that it's a Sportster from that image, haha.
Haha yeah I have a Sportster myself - don't think I'm some well-versed motorcycle enthusiast! I have spent a lot of time working on mine and making some upgrades so I am learning more about it every day! It's a great bike. My proudest upgrade was when I changed the rear pulley and sprocket out to make mine ride better on the highway and essentially give my bike a "6th gear." I keep hearing stories about people who buy bigger bikes and wish they had never sold their Sportsters. So I'll never sell mine! It's in fantastic condition so why not keep it and enjoy it? I plan on making so many fun changes to it in the future. Maybe a Hammer kit in the future? Maybe switch speedos? The sky is the limit with this bike.
