- Pecco: Super clean
- Aleix: Surprise of the weekend
- Brad: The stewards need to get all the way off his back ffs
MotoGP
Agreed.
The summer break sometimes gives a real reset feeling to the season, hopefully a few manufacturers make a good step forward.
I'm excited to see how Aprillia and KTM come back, I think Honda and Yamaha have no chance.
Sadly the last few seasons it seemed like Ducati come back so strong in the second half, we could be relying on Martin and Bezz to spice things up. Let's see!
I'm really surprised they let Acosta off on that long lap penalty, there's no way he didn't cross into the green on that. Same old same old with the stewards though, super inconsistent.
I was surprised too, but also relieved because the original penalty was BS.
I would love to see a close up slow mo of the lap to see if there is some tyre of his still on track, but I would be surprised. From the heli shot it looked so far into the green!
Good point about the original penalty, that ‘drop 1 second’ is not something you can expect a rider to do reliably. Same thing happened to Binder last race I think, the whole system needs to be re-thought
'Give back any advantage' is a good wording in my opinion. It leaves a bit of wiggle room for interpretation whilst still being very clear about any obligations.
Acosta had no advantage from his save, so the penalty was just salt in the wound.
The moto2 penalties for shortcuts were so harsh, took some excitement from everything. I know they are not using discretion so things are consistent, but I don't think the rules should be lose 1 second if you take a short cut because it's so hard to judge. It should be something like give up a position, or give up any advantage gained.
So, is anyone watching moto2? What did you think about the Jake Dixon move on Ai Ogura for the win... I'm not sure if he will get a penalty, which would be also awkward with all the celebration.
