(Warning: the following text is a fictional story. Any resemblance to the dystopian reality is a mere coincidence)

It's 2026. All browsers have a subscription fee because, you know, "it's not free to maintain a browser". I couldn't renew my browser subscription yet, so I can't continue developing my little Vue project, because Vue (alongside with everything else) stopped supporting the former, subscriptionless browsers (those browsers were deemed "piracy tools" by many corporations and international laws). I can't use the web as entertainment either.

To make things worse, I reached the ad viewing quota (due to alleged "revenue loses", ads now have a daily quota, i.e. how many ads you are allowed to watch daily in order to "pay" for the usage of online services; if you're not actively clicking them and buying the advertised product, you soon become ineligible to keep watching them until the next day). So I can't watch dozens of uninterruptible ads anymore in order to keep browsing.

But this is fine! Yeah, that's okay: fortunately, I did afford to pay for my human existence and breath subscription fees this week, so I got some more not-so-fresh oxygen and heartbeats till I can get more ads so, you know, I could finally deliver this project and be paid so I can pay to work so I could keep being paid to pay to work... while I watch those paid ads. After all, you know, it's not free to maintain modern existence...

I bet you could make a bit more money by creating original texts to help train AIs. Even more if you create data by performing text or spoken interactions with a Verified Human online. (you'll need to make sure your own Verification is paid up though.) Ask about bonuses for mentioning specific products during the interactions.

If you're not careful, your only career option will be labeling "problematic" AI output... and I've heard that can be pretty traumatizing.
