Secretly happy that everyone hates Ohio. Cost of living is much lower that way. Keep hating, y’all.

Less than 5% of the land in the country is occupied by housing and no reasonable land reform has happened to make entry level home construction viable. Every single metric here is a total failure of government. The low points are just the ones with no meaningful economic growth in the same timeframe.

Why does Hawaii have a hotter color even though California has a higher cost?

[–] jimmydoreisalefty 1 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Yes!

You are correct, looking for source, seems other maps also share the numbers and colors to a degree, I have not found the source though...

Edit1:

Here is another I found, same problem:

I think they are already well aware. Seeing as how they live there and all.

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001 5 points 3 months ago

Yeah but what no one tells you about that lower cost of living is that now you're trapped because everywhere else is so much more expensive.

And honestly this whole state could disappear and the world would be a better place

Only explanation is that someone convinced many in those states that housing construction is woke.

Ohio is the bastard child of New England and is not part of the Midwest!

[–] jimmydoreisalefty 0 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Oh, why is that?

Please explain further, if you would like or have the time!

What's going on with NJ? Does it even exist? Is it just merged with NY?

[–] BradleyUffner 1 points 3 months ago

PA is looking a little jacked up too now that you mention it.

[–] jacksilver 1 points 3 months ago

Haha, I came to post the same thing. Apparently it's finally happened, New Jersey has officially become just a suburb of New York City.

Is this not mostly a population density map with a few explainable caveats for places like Alaska?

[–] bestagon 1 points 3 months ago

I don’t think so. Based off of density Montana also wouldn’t have any business being in the ball park of New York though I’m sure that is a factor in nationwide home prices
