/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

That desert planet that Picard and Wesley crashed on where the only water source was protected by a force field must have been a former Nestle planet.

They needed it for chocolate production

While I don't like that moe was a different jawn in each cell, that is very on point.

Before using jawn I was gonna use "anthropomorphic personification " Not sure if that would been correct or not.

The idea of positive rights VS negative rights doesn't get said enough.

In the US you usually have a right to pursue things like food, water, shelter. In much of the world, there is a right that these are provided to all people, when possible.

No one can make sure the government is always able to provide necessities to everyone at all times, but we can sure as hell as be against the corporate taking of things that should belong to all people, because they are the things necessary for all life on planet earth.

How can one group corner the market on water? We would have basically given them the right of violence, which is a right largely reserved for the government. If you abhor government overreach, then you had better abhor the corporate boot as well.

I think the problem is corruption. You can essentially buy a small country as the leadership is corrupt.

[–] NeptuneOrbit 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Right. But isn't it corruption to buy up all the water/food/shelter?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

No

The problem is when the public officials are making money from the large company who came it for cheap supplies or labor

[–] NeptuneOrbit 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Ooooo ook you are a libertarian?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

Conservative

This wasn't a political statement. Its bad when public officials are getting bribed.

[–] NeptuneOrbit 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

OK but buying up all the water is corruption by another name.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

They can't buy all the water if the government won't let them.

[–] NeptuneOrbit 2 points 7 months ago

Yeah exactly.

Yet another thing Sisko stepped up the plate on.

[–] EdibleFriend 2 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Dealt with Q for like 10 minutes.

Punched him in the fucking face.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Sisko punched Q? I watched a lot of next generation and deep space as a kid, not all, I don't consider myself a trekkie, but I am familiar. Q on next Gen I know, and when me and the SO did a rewatch she hated Q (I love him! He deserves to be punched but he is soooo good)

I don't remember Sisko punching him. Did Q later reveal to Sisko how he allowed that to happen? The Qs are all but omnipotent compared to the other races right?

Sadly Netflix dropped next Gen when we were about 50 episodes in (very early season 2) and we haven't switched out for a VPN (yet)so I rely on yall for unbiased truthful answers.

This was literally his first interaction with him lol

as for how it actually happened.....shh bb don't think about it just let it happen.

[–] TheGrandNagus 2 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

One of the first DS9 episodes. Q taunts Sisko, goading him into hitting him, and Sisko does it.

In universe, I think this was Q presenting Sisko with a test, which Sisko failed because he let his temper get the best of him, so he promptly left and didn't return.

Out-of-universe, it was clearly meant to convey to the viewer early on that Sisko isn't like Picard, you shouldn't expect him to be like Picard, that he's a more emotional and volatile character.

Good thing Wesley wasn’t there because Jake and Nog would be absolutely terrified.
