Cocktails, the libationary art!

A place for conversation about cocktails, ingredients, home mixology, the bar industry or liquor industry, glassware - this is not an exhaustive list. If you think it's in some way related to cocktails it's probably fine.

If you post something you didn't create give credit whenever possible.

Pictures and recipes are encouraged when posting a drink as a standalone post. Example of an ideal drink post:

We love garnishes.

Remember the code of conduct, keep it nice. In terms of cocktails- specific etiquette that might be different from other communities:

Mentioning your blog, insta, website, book or bar is allowed, yes. For now at least, we do allow self-promotion. If it gets out of hand this might change.

A good post with a drink you don't like is still a good post! Try not to conflate the drink and the post or poster. If someone has a relevant title, gorgeous photo and clearly formatted recipe of what you consider a truly terrible drink, a comment is more appropriate than a downvote.

On that topic: Polite critique/reviews of drinks (or posts, images, etc.) is allowed here. Encouraged , even. It's a good tool for improving your drinks and content. Really, just be nice.

I am out of bourbon, cognac, vodka but have tequila and a lot of amaros/liqueurs so tried yesterday: Fernet, tequila, Giffard Banana & a little lime, NOPE. Right down the drain with that. Ended up with another pineapple variation; tequila, Heirloom Pineapple Amaro, a little of the banana liqueur, a little of roasted pineapple syrup, and some lime. More of a margarita variation, it was much better but not what I was aiming for.

I think the banana liqueur maybe needs to be saved for pancake batter or banana bread, it's not bad I just can't make it work in a drink.

What are you drinking this weekend?

as I am ill, it will be juice and water this weekend.

Otherwise it would be a brown spirit.

I don’t drink these often, but sometimes I Abide (in my own way) and pour a

2 Appleton

1 coffee liqueur (I use a diy rum-based here)

Spoon of branca

Spoon of banana

Mole bitters

Top with whole milk

I’ve used giffs and banana 99 there…hard to say which works better, but 99 is more candy nana than giffs.

This weekend is getting warm, so it’ll be a batch of margaritas with Naranga plus my new fav mixto, El Tequileno….and ti punch with Paranubes to pick up any slack…an excellent sip if you like funky rums. Cheers!

With some soda water. Maybe get fancy and add a few drops of OJ.

Wrapping up the weekend with a lengthened margarita. 2oz tequila, 4oz orange juice, 1oz lime juice, and about 4oz Topo Chico. Gentle Sunday drink, not my beloved boozy margarita.

A martini for Saturday night (ETA: made it to the store finally)

2 oz vodka

1oz Elderflower Liqueur

1/4 oz Green Chartreuse

3/4 oz lemon juice

Absinthe

Place coupe in freezer while measuring and mixing. Shake first 4 ingredients with ice. Take glass from freezer and rinse with absinthe then add the drink. This is garnished with longan fruit from a can, lychee or rambutan or sweet grapes would be great too.

One more edit to say this was ridiculously good. I want to call it Ice Queen (based on the flavor) but see there is already a rum drink by that name. That was what it tastes like though. I guess as there is a Pokemon named Froslass who is an ice/ghost this will be the Froslass Martini.

I just went to the store to restock the bar. I got a bottle of Henry McKenna BiB, a liter of Grandad BiB, a handle of tequila (for palomas) a bottle of Fernet Branca, and a bottle of Malort

Trying to find a close match to bass beer. It's apparently not made anymore and I've been ITCHING for a pint.

So hopefully something close
