Ah, yet another comic I don't understand. I enjoy it regardless
The Far Side
Hello fellow Far Side fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips and one of those was The Far Side. These days of course you find just about anything online including www.thefarside.com where they post several comics a day and I repost them here. Just to note, the date you see in my posts is not the initial release date, but the date they were posted on the website.
The Far Side is a single-panel comic created by Gary Larson and syndicated by Chronicle Features and then Universal Press Syndicate, which ran from December 31, 1979, to January 1, 1995 (when Larson retired as a cartoonist). Its surrealistic humor is often based on uncomfortable social situations, improbable events, an anthropomorphic view of the world, logical fallacies, impending bizarre disasters, (often twisted) references to proverbs, or the search for meaning in life… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Far_Side

The guy ate the dog food, I guess?
Yes, and the man quickly pretended to read the paper even though his mouth is still full of food. I think the comic would've been more effective if there was obvious dog food around the person's mouth, or if the cheeks didn't just look fat.
Ohhh okay. You're right, it could be a little more obvious. I thought the dude just had a lumpy head lol
Possibly it's referencing an affair, and the man secretly had another dog over? Like coming home early from work and finding two empty glasses of wine.
Dudes... dudes--
Check out Ballard Street.
It's like this *one* particular Larson cartoon turned in to an hilarious industry, almost.
In any case, you've been warned.
Rad. Any favorites?
The older stuff is probably best. Like many cartoonists, the creator kind of recycled ideas after a certain point.
Here's an archive that goes back to 2002:

Keep in mind the comic heavily lampoons boomers with a certain zany absurdity. It's best audience is probably Gen X, so I'm not totally sure Millenials et al would dig it.
