When I try to create a community, the create button turns into a spinning icon after I click it and it just sticks like that, forever. I tried like...15m ago and that attempt is still spinning. I've tried multiple times, its not just one bugged attempt.

I've had this happen when I didn't select languages correctly.

Also do open a new tab and always check, I always get the endless spinner when posting but the post goes live behind the scenes, so the same could happen with communities I'd guess

Figured it out, the community was made and I can get to it by manually typing the URL, but that page also says it was deleted by the creator and doesn't show in community search. So I think it's in recycling bin limbo and failing to generate an error.

To select a language "correctly" do I just ctrl+click, in my case, English and Undetermined, so that they are both highlighted when I click Create? Thats what I tried last time, no luck so far.

Refresh the page and try again, but make sure you select a language if you didn’t the previous attempt.

In which insurance are you attempting to create the community?

I had this happen on mobile when I tried to use emojis in the title, so I was thinking perhaps it’s an unhandled error for invalid characters in the title? When I tried again without the emojis, it posted right away.

I'm just trying to do "Stargate", just the one word, lowercase in the name field.

Hmm, not sure then. Also, so sorry about the repeat comments! Kept telling me the comments didn’t go through πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

I would hope the recycling bin is emptied eventually so the communities can be recreated, but according to this it doesn't look like it, which is dumb because that means anyone can create and delete a community just to prevent the name from ever being used.

Happy to hear it! There have been some mutterings of this instance struggling the last few hours - that must be tied in. Would certainly explain my comment shenanigans too

I am having the same issue, but when I type in the community name manually, it shows "404: couldnt_find_community". I have tried on both mobile and desktop. multiple connections, and refreshing the page. I've tried made sure to select both English and Undetermined in languages, but nothing seems to be working. Are there any other possible fixes for this?

[–] redpen 1 points 2 years ago

I figured it out. For those that come here in the future, I had to remove the underscores from the community name.

Are you on mobile? I found I couldn't get it to go through on my phone (browser or jerboa) but I did get it through on my desktop. Had to be patient but took less than 15 min I think.

Started mobile, but I'm on desktop now with the same result.
