The trauma of knowing they have a friendly-fire target of their backs and of getting bombed by their own.

Well that... plus having their loved ones killed by Palestinian terrorists, being injured and kidnapped and held for ransom, being drugged without consent, being sexually and physically abused by their captors, being tortured in square meter animal cages and/or sensory deprivation chambers, finally being released after months only to find that their families have been killed, and so on.

There are three sides to every war. The "good" side, the "bad" side, and the innocent. Align yourself the with innocent.

When you actively participate in an apartheid state that is committing genocide against another people, and refuse to fight against it, are you really innocent? If you just don't care what your government does to innocent people - bombing families, detaining thousands of minors without any legal recourse, stealing land, depriving people of livelihoods and movement - how innocent can you really be?

Yes, I do pity the children. That is why Israel's actions are so much worse. They are inflicting so much more suffering on children.

Israel has to stop the genocide. If they don't promote justice, they will never have peace. Unfortunately, I think the Israeli government is happy to accept all this violence in exchange for the possibility of eliminating all the Palestinians and stealing their land.

I can't imagine living in an apartheid state. The suffering from everyone involved must be horrible.

Caring about trauma victims should not be one-sided.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Why is press coverage so one—sided in favor of the oppressors?

It wasn't?

The trauma experienced by hundreds of thousands of children and their parents in Gaza will also have long-term debilitating effects, psychiatrists and psychologists have warned, particularly as there are no therapeutic facilities left. Few of Gaza’s hospitals are functioning any more, even for operating on the severely injured.

With an estimated 8,000 children killed in Gaza, and many tens of thousands more injured and orphaned, the UN children’s fund has said the Gaza Strip is “the most dangerous place in the world to be a child”.

They're either too stupid to read or too biased to read.

Either way, they're probably beyond help at this point. It's frankly just sad at this point.

What the fuck are you even talking about? Seriously, did you even take 3 minutes to read the article?

These people, who were (and still are) being taken captive by Hamas, are not "the oppressors" by any stretch.

They are innocent people (in this case women and children) who were taken captive by terrorists and murderers, brought into a terrifying war zone, physically and sexually abused, drugged without consent, kept in 1x1.5 animal cages, kept in pitch black darkness, deprived of food, water, medication, and never knowing whether they or their families are going to die.

You shouldn't have to choose between sympathy to the innocent people of Gaza who are suffering in this war, and the innocent people of Israel who are also suffering. The fact that you even feel the need to "choose a side" or complain about media bias here is a stain on your soul and you should be fucking ashamed of that.

Happy New Year, bitch.

Defending apartheid is your safe space, I see.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

"Safe space", huh? You argue like Ron Desantis.

Next thing you'll be calling me "woke" because you clearly don't have a leg to stand on or a brain to think with.

Of the 14 hostages treated by Eitan’s team, nine are under 18 and two are under 10. Most need long-term treatment for trauma.

Go ahead and explain to us how 9 teens and 2 children are guilty of oppressing anyone.
Or maybe you hear "jew" in your head and can't help but create some kind of twisted mental image?

Either way, I'll wait for your top mind to come up with an answer, because I just love a good laugh.

If there is no justice, there can be no peace.

These people are all victims of apartheid.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If there is no justice, there can be no peace.

Oh ok, "no peace"... So then you want war in Gaza.

Good luck with your war, amigo.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago

You’re an idiot.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You probably shouldn't have...

Among the 14 freed hostages treated at her centre, she said, were child hostages who had been drugged by their captors – including with ketamine – and were suffering from withdrawal, those who had subjected to or witnessed sexual abuse, a woman who had been kept in a tiny [1 x 1.5m, with another woman] cage, and another who had a breakdown after being kept in complete darkness for days.

Rather than picking a side between the IDF and Hamas, be on the side of the innocent people on both sides of this war who are victims of unspeakable atrocities. It's not hard for me. It shouldn't be hard for you. And if it is, that speaks to the darkness of bias and hatred within you.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Many of the hostages released from detention in Gaza by Hamas in November still require intensive treatment for the trauma from their weeks in captivity, a leading Israeli psychiatrist has said.

Renana Eitan, the head of psychiatry at the Ichilov Tel Aviv medical centre, said the hostages had undergone the worst abuse and trauma she had witnessed in her career.

Eitan said news footage of joyful reunions as 120 hostages were released in the last week of November masked a darker underlying reality.

The Ichilov Tel Aviv centre is consulting psychiatric institutes around the world and other organisations dealing with post-traumatic stress disorders.

The trauma experienced by hundreds of thousands of children and their parents in Gaza will also have long-term debilitating effects, psychiatrists and psychologists have warned, particularly as there are no therapeutic facilities left.

“I can see the seeds of that even now in the young people with whom our Gaza team is working amid bombs in shelters and on the rubble crowded streets,” he said.
