Hey all,

Apparently Lemmy.ml has blocked Threads.

Lemmy.world has not made a decision on if it will defederate from Threads.

While we are on Lemmy.world and most of our users are on Lemmy.world, this will impact our users that are registered on Lemmy.ml.

For now, we don't think we need a rule on Threads yet, but all post submissions are recommended to be non-Threads if possible. If the post is Threads exclusive, provide a screenshot.

The similar rule applies to Twitter due to their constant changes : If the entire tweet plus the author's name can't fit into the title, screenshot the tweet and put a link to the tweet in the body.

We expect Lemmy.world to make a call on Threads soon and will update you accordingly.

Cheers.

Twitter just quietly rolled back their decision on the login to see tweets. It just seems to be getting worse everyday. I wish we didn't have to be so reliant on it for news.

That’s because they operate on musk’s mood of the day.

Crazy how people see Threads as the Twitter killer and not just Meta's next data mining platform. I guess people would rather have evil over stupid.

I think it says more of how people are desperate for that kind of platform, and musk has made Twitter so toxic and poor that people prefer using a meta platform of all places.

@ironeaglebird @I_am_the_grass agree on the rule.

However, a note of caution - while you can read individual tweets if you have the link, they remove all context. In other words, a tweet from the middle of a thread will look like it's a standalone tweet.

i.e. you won't see that there are any replies to the tweet, or any other tweets in the thread.
