at first i thought i was wording the post in an offensive way or something and was trying to figure out how to fix it

but now i genuinely think a significant chunk of lemmy just fucking hates floridians for no reason but dogmaticsm

I won't be laughing when this happens to Florida. If for no other reason than enlightened self-interest: sea levels rising will compact the country's population into smaller and smaller areas, creating even more overcrowding and competition for housing. Skyrocketing rents will be the first consequence. When this happens to Florida, it will happen to absolutely everyone.

you are more correct than maybe you know. skyrocketing rents already are the first consequence. due to markets being prospective, properties that are at higher elevation are already disproportionately gaining value.
