The Rays are in agreement on a deal that would send Glasnow and veteran outfielder Manuel Margot to Los Angeles for young starter Ryan Pepiot and outfielder Jonny Deluca, sources told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, contingent upon Glasnow signing a contract extension with Los Angeles. Glasnow is expected to agree to an extension, per a source.

I understand the win-now mentality, but I still don't like trading away Pepiot for such an injury-prone player.

I agree, normally I trust the dodgers front office because they’re generally pretty good about these things but this one seems weird to me.

Glasnow has only pitched over 100 innings twice in his career, with his highest at 120. He’s got great stuff, but he’s not crazy dominant enough that it makes up for that in my opinion. His career ERA+ is 107. Granted his time on the pirates is bringing that down quite a bit so it’s likely that’s not really representative, but still.

And it isn’t like Pepiot is an early minor leaguer with a big chance to flame out. They’ve pitched 80 innings in the bigs and have done very well so far.

I wonder how much of the trade was for Margot too. I guess we’ll see how it goes.
