It look like the drm isn't here to protect the game but the microtransaction system. This greedy 40$ freemium system remind me ovewatch...
If the server side security is done properly, nothing the client can do can crack that.
One can surely run his own server for payday 3 to connect to. I'm not really knowledgable about game hacking but I guess a DRM will make this more difficult.
