Bite :) Hello, first post on Lemmy!
Just finished my first week back at work after a toasty week in a heatwave in Spain; my first international travel since the pandemic. I've got a few errands to take care of but looking forward to a spot of baldurs gate 3 and relaxing!
Oppenheimer is most definitely on my watch list, it's a fascinating time in history and the science is awesome too.
I've got to say I appreciate your efforts on kick starting a Scotland community Olap. I'm normally a lurker by nature but having witnessed the mass migrations from forums to digg to Reddit, it feels necessary to throw support behind Lemmy as the next evolutionary stage. Keep it up!
Sounds like you've been busy! How did you cope in the heatwave??
We hid from the sun just like we hide from the rain! factor 50, hats and plenty hydration. Mid-week was absolutely brutal with 42 degrees forecast - stayed indoors with the Aircon on until about 10pm before going out that day.
Some of our friends up the mountains from where we were visiting had 48 degrees - it's just becoming intolerable. Kind of hard to argue about climate change when all you hear about is record temperatures being recorded :(
I can imagine!! Which part of Spain were you in? My dad used to live in the north and it was always a bit cooler there.
Yeah climate change is happening and no one seems to be bothered about making big changes.
South coast, around Malaga. Been to the region loads of times as my friend lives over there but this trip will stick in my mind. First time I've really felt that the sun was out to get us.
Where abouts were you off to yourself?
My last holiday, before covid, was in Nerja. I love it there!!
I had a big birthday this year and a really shitty time over the last year, so this summer we booked to go to New York. Was fantastic!! Not a very chilled holiday though, but amazing to experience and see all the touristy things!!
I've never made it up the coast from Malaga but have been everywhere down to and including Gibraltar. There's nothing not to love over there (except the effects out drinking culture has had in the tourist areas :( )
Ah New York never a shortage of things to do. I found it to be like a long walk through all the 80s films of my childhood. My friends and I even did a little skit outside the public library in Ghostbusters honor but the damned camera didn't record it properly :( glad you had a good time.
Lol brilliant!! You'll need to go back and remember to hit record!!
