Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Elon is a shitty person, but he is not responsible for the behavior of his parents. Likewise, plenty of people grew up in fucked up homes without becoming terrible themselves.

You’re having empathy for the wrong person. He does not deserve that.

Consistently applying logic to every person no matter their situation isn’t empathy, it’s justice.

I judge everyone on their own mistakes, not those of their parents. And boy has Elon fucked up a lot.

Ok, you’re applying justice to somebody that doesn’t deserve it.

I'd call that ethical consistency.

I’m just tired of this one way ethical consistency. It’s bullshit and posts like this don’t always need somebody jumping in to defend the evil piece of shit.

If you think what I posted was a defense of Elon, you need to work on your reading comprehension. In no uncertain terms, he is the worst humanity has to offer. But that’s because of his own choices, not his father’s choices.

What I’m saying is even MORE damning because I’m taking away the excuse you’re giving him - that his problems were caused by his father’s actions.

No, what you're doing is sucking air out of the room by insisting that no one but you is capable of recognizing the subtle detail that Elon and Elon's father are, in fact, actually two different people.

because I’m taking away the excuse you’re giving him

It wasn't an excuse to begin with. Does a bad childhood absolve someone of murder? Of course it doesn't. Those details might be correlated, though.
