Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Publicly shaming anyone that drives a Tesla and outright publicly laughing at Cybertrucks is a lot more effective than you might think. Tesla value is a huge source of Elon's wealth and the more toxic the brand becomes, the less room he has to maneuver.
Everyone I know has already dumped their swasticars.
Everybody leave Tesla owners the fuck alone. Normal, non-freak people bought Teslas in droves a long time ago. They didn't do anything wrong, and I expect anybody who considers themselves to be on the right side of this to fucking act like it.
Cybertruck? Lol open season.
While I hate Tesla as much as the next person and definitely don't think anyone should be buying new ones, it's a little unfair to ask people to just dump their car and buy a new one. That's a very privileged perspective of like "oh ya I can just sell this and get a new one" especially if (I assume) the value for them has dropped.
Besides, buying a new one will just put more money into other capitalist pockets because even though other car manufacturers aren't outright Nazis, they're still capitalists.
Many people that bought Tesla in the earlier days thought they were doing a good thing, so I think it's unfair to punish them now if they can't afford/don't want to buy a new one. Put a fuck Elon sticker on it something, sure.
We're talking about tesla owners though. you could sell a tesla and buy a low mileage used car and still come out with money from it all
Be aware the model 3 had a facelift in the 2024 model year, the model Y is getting it this year. The S and X are rumored to be next.
Though public shame is powerful, be aware that those driving an older styled tesla likely bought before musk went so publicly off the deep end. Cars are expensive and cannot be changed without significant expense. So have some compassion.
But anyone driving a particularly angy model 3 with dagger shaped taillights, a model Y with front and rear light bars, or a cybertruck should be mocked and shamed without remorse.
Who elon really is was very public when those owners chose to buy their car.
Just bought a fuck Elon bumper sticker for my 2018 Model 3.
Why not sell the car?
Because that is an incredible financial burden.
I just got done paying ours off. As much as I covet replacing it with something else, I’d rather spend the money on other things. Plus part of the reason we bought it was to be more eco-friendly (yes, yes, I know all of the arguments) and buying a brand-new car just cause I want to virtue signal is not eco-friendly.
I hear that.
The other thing about the "why not sell it?" argument is...what exactly does that accomplish? There are still just as many Teslas on the road. I guess someone who would buy new and give Tesla money could buy your used one? But what if that person is an Elon simp? Would cheaper used cars on the market change their mind?
Yes they are in very high demand right now
The only thing they really want is belonging. It's literally what Musk and Trump desire as well. They want to be accepted. Trump hates New York because New York high society rejected him fot being a crass boorish buffoon. Musk wanted the accolades of 4chan and has worked hard to build a cult like following.
Rejection of them and their ideas is one of the few things that stings them. It's why they hate liberals and leftists and want to hurt them. Because their ideas have been soundly rejected by the educated, and they resent the fuck out of that.
But the second they feel in the minority, the second they don't feel in charge, they will make superficial changes like selling their Cybertruck just so people will stop laughing at them. They change nothing inside because only appearance matters.
Ftfy
Was driving my old beat up car earlier and saw a Tesla. My old beat up car with no legal ties to my name. My old beat up car that isn't worth the repair it needs. My old beat up car that could have destroyed that Tesla.
I made it home safe and sound
I literally just stopped in a parking lot to point and laugh at a cyber truck. I tried to get my son to join me but he just thinks I'm old man angry at cloud.
