Can maybe be the same as your Youtube channel recommendations if you've shared those previously because many outlets also syndicate in text besides video as long as you're sure its has an RSS link to subscribe to

No specific recommendations, but I highly recommend following your local news orgs assuming you don’t live in a news desert.

The goal of big news companies is to get clicks for that delicious ad revenue and they don’t care about how predatory that is towards you.

Local news is much more community focused in my experience

Yeah, I can’t argue with that, it’s a shame :(

All the more reason to subscribe to independently owned ones if they’re available to keep them afloat :)

Yep. Look for smaller community newspapers — like the freebies they hand out at the grocery store etc. a lot of them have RSS feeds. If you join the subLemmy for your closest metropolis, you’ll often find stories posted from sources like these, and local political blogs. A good way to find more local RSS feeds.
