For all the pedal pushers out there that love long distance cycling. There are no gear requirements and no 'minimum distances' here.

Have you ridden for a cheeky overnighter or a 3 year global trek? Doesn't matter, you're welcome here.

Have you got panniers, bikepacking bags or just a backpack with the essentials? Doesn't matter, you're welcome here.

Have you got the latest in carbon engineering or your dads old 10 speed from the 70's? Doesn't matter, you're welcome here.

But ill post them when im home. Text update instead for now.

Stayed at a campsite in the end after I got off the ferry. Had to leave the campsite in uk in a rush to get to the ferry port for 8am, so going with a campsite when I got to dieppe was worth it even if just for the shower. Beautiful site about 10km along the avenue verte route just where the old train track starts. Cheap pitch, €13 with a can of coke, so about €11 to camp. Cant remember the name but it translates to two rivers I think.

Had a neighbour from canada that first night. We are both pitching at the halte cycliste in dampierre en bray tonight. An amazing facility, toilet, tap water, electronics charging, a japan-esque vending machine filled with meals prepared at a local restuarant and a microwave to heat them, and best of all you can pitch for free between 7pm and 8am. I will share photos of the facilities when im back. Its almost exactly one third of the way from dieppe to paris so a perfect first stop if anyone chooses to tackle avenue verte over 3 days.

Not sure where I will stay tomorrow, just going to wing it, I might stop short of my planned quota and make it up the next day, otherwise there is a forest somewhere after gisors that I might be able to wildcamp in. I will see how many distractions I encounter tomorrow and decide nearer the time. I did my 50 miles today with plenty of time to relax before tents are even allowed to be put up for wild camping anyway..

Hey nice to see you in a better mood. Looks like the weather has been ok for now? From the weekend it looks a bit shit though, but weather report always lies, and everybody's app says somethung different. Mine says now i will have nice weather in the coming days so i'll trust it ;)

Oh yeah, i had such a lovely day. There were five showers but managed to avoid all of them and stay completely dry. My base altitude is now also 500m lower and i was riding in a t-shirt only almost all day.

Thats great to hear. I have struck lucky with the weather again. Camping just outside paris at maisson lafitte, today was supposed to be storms but instead it is hot with blue sky and not a single cloud. I made a travel companion just outside dieppe and we have cycled together, we were allowed to share my pitch here which has saved me €45 for the weekend. I have decided not to cycle back to dieppe, instead I will get the train to calais on monday and ride the euro velo 4 route to dieppe and keep exploring new spaces.

Alright, that sounds cool and like a great plan, to check out something different on the way back. Also really cool to share the pitch!

After a rainy night, where somehow water dripped onto my pillow, it's all sunshine now, my stuff is dried up and i'm on my way.

Enjoy Paris!

*edit: also amazing that you had this companion since Dieppe! Are they also going back north after Paris? Definitely love a good change of plans, and yours sounds splendid.
