I know this is something people probably say a lot regarding all sorts of media, but ehh, this is lemmy and I wanted to express my gratitude to this community.

For a little unnecessary background, I was one day just browsing derpibooru (an imageboard) and saw the 'random' button. I thought "ehh, why not press this button and see where it leads?" I got the jackpot. It sent me to a youtube link from a decade ago, to a video called Snowdrop. I thought "oh, great, fanfiction..." since, by that time I was led to believe by people on-line that most communities do bad fanfiction (bad in the sense of NSFW. This kind of gross stuff). And yes, I know this community is infamous by its bad side, but I ain't talking about the bad side in this post. Anyway, I saw the view count and was baffled: "22 million? WTF?" Since I was already there, I thought "ehh? Why not?" and started the video. In the end I was crying. How? How can a video based on a kids show be this good and thought-provoking?

Fast-forward to yesterday when anon in 4chan posts this masterpiece on an Applejack-related thread. After seeing this and other masterpieces by the same person, this other masterpiece gets recommended to me by youtube (I cried with this as well btw).

My only question is how? How can a KIDS SHOW have this much care and attention by its community? I'm never seeing fan-made content the same way again. Absolutely insane high-quality stuff right here

Welcome everyone to the first lemmy edition of

Writing Snippets

The thread where you write the fanfiction!

All you have to do is post a fanfiction scene, story, or idea. It's that simple!

If you need more space, scene break and self reply. If you need more confidence, just know your idea is good enough here.

If you need ideas, go hit up the PS links below, so many ideas haven't been fully realized yet.

With that, I leave you to it!

Bonus: Here you go, inspiration

P.S. Currently in the reddit mirror universe, Family

P.P.S. There is a kbin version also waiting for some horse words.

Really love this browser game, and it seems to be quite popular overseas from my USA perspective. It's amazing how expressive they made the characters.

Post 14/14 of my favorite MLP links. This will be my last post for a while and for this series. I feel like I'm the only one posting here, and I don't want to dominate the community activity.

I still love Lemmy. I'll be around!

I heard that old memes are popular on Lemmy! This one is truly moldy. Post 13/? of my favorite MLP-related links, mainly featuring videos.

Post 12/? of my favorite MLP-related links is this bizarre creation based on 3D models of those low quality Walmart MLP plushies.

The audio is not in English, but it's not important to understanding this video. I mean, if there's anything to be understood about it.

This is post 11/? of my favorite MLP-related links, most of which are videos.

I'm not really an expert on this meme, but I believe it is a spoof on a popular advertisement for a juice drink. Enable closed captions for translation!

This video was posted on YouTube from Bilibili (Chinese YouTube) by Cosmia's Stash.

Recent artwork from Derpibooru.org that I liked: Flutgirshy and Nintendo DS. I never actually owned one of these, but I was often able to borrow one.

Suddenly one of my favorite MLP links 8/?.

Hello again! Time for the next post of my favorite MLP links 7/?. This link is to a flash game stored at Archive.org; finally not posting a video! This was a landmark flash game telling a story that's best experienced rather than told. The whole game is very short but definitely worth it.

Content Trigger Warnings: Jump scares, horror, murder/crime investigation, loud noises.

It's a short game with non-graphic (IMHO, fantasy violence at best) horror content where the main character Apple Bloom makes a harrowing discovery. Note that the content in the game changes by the time of day and creepier content is supposed to be available after 3am, but I have never tested this.

The game runs (barely) in the Ruffle in-browser flash emulator. I had to reload the page a few times to get it to actually run without crashing.

I don't think any listing of great MLP links would be complete without something from TJ Pones and his unique, minimal art style and silly content.

Viewers: Please be aware that not all content on the creator's channel is SFW.

This is post 6/? of my favorite MLP-relevant links, posted once daily or less frequently. It seems that most of them are videos.

And we're back! Last night was a doozy for sure with the whole exploit thing going on at lemmy.world. In fact, I'm here @lemdro.id because I'd rather stay off the big instances, and my previous infosec.pub is seeing some connectivity problems. Rather than wait, I decided to embrace the plurality of the fediverse and here I am!

If you really care to check who I am (you don't) you can see my main account linked from my profile, and on that page it lists this as one of my accounts as well as the previous account, proving that they're all connected.

Post 5/?, a fun, super short clip from Cosmia's Stash, a reposter of Bilibili "Chinese YouTube" popular MLP clips. Hope you enjoy!

My favorite version of Antonymph, direct from Vylet Pony's YouTube channel! Absolutely has that 2009 vibe.

Post 4/? of my favorite MLP relevant links, limited to once daily or less frequently.

Quite an old clip from 10 years ago, which is at least 14 years in Internet time. Sometimes cute and short is the best!

This is a series post 3/? of my favorite MLP-related links to help contribute some more activity to the community.

My second post of sharing my favorite MLP links, this fantastically animated music video is in Russian I believe. The song is in the title so you can look up lyrics and follow along, but from the video the meaning is readily apparent.

Judging from the comments, very few English speakers get to enjoy this video, but the animation is so good I hope you will enjoy.

EDIT: Don't worry! The kiss in the thumbnail is as far as it goes.

This video has been around for a while on Bilibili (i.e. Chinese YouTube) and the animation quality is absolutely superb. It was finally posted on YouTube a few days ago. The first time I found it I couldn't stop watching it over and over because it was so well made. It's amazing that high-quality content like this is still being produced.

I think I'll share some of my favorite links here to help breathe some life into this community, but not more than one per day to avoid spamming.
