ATLANTA — Trae Young scored 26 points, knocking down his first six attempts from 3-point range, and the Atlanta Hawks handed LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers their second double-digit loss in as many nights, 138-122 on Tuesday.

The Hawks seized control by ripping off three straight baskets to start the second half, pushing their lead to 17 points and forcing the Lakers to call a quick timeout.

It didn't help. Atlanta stretched the margin to 20 points and the Lakers never got any closer than 10 the rest of the way in a matchup of teams that reportedly have been in talks ahead of next week’s trade deadline.

The Lakers, playing without Anthony Davis after a 135-119 loss at Houston on Monday, slipped back below .500 at 24-25. Austin Reaves scored 28 points and James added 20 in a lackluster performance before a standing-room-only crowd.

Dejounte Murray, who had 24 points for the Hawks, knocked down mid-range jumpers on three straight possessions midway through the fourth quarter to turn back any thoughts of a Lakers comeback.

The Hawks guard has been mentioned as someone who might be moved with his team sitting at seven games under .500 despite its second straight victory.

Jalen Johnson chipped in with 19 points for the Hawks, while Bogdan Bogdanovic and Saddiq Bey had 18 apiece. Seven players scored in double figures for Atlanta, which made 16 of 38 from beyond the arc and finished 52% from the field.

Davis missed his third game of the season, sitting out with what the Lakers listed as left hip and Achilles tendon issues. Jaxson Hayes started in his place and had six points and six rebounds.

That was a far cry from the production of Davis, who is averaging 24.9 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.

There also were questions about whether the 39-year-old James would play on consecutive nights. But he went through his pregame routine and was in the starting lineup.

Hawks forward De'Andre Hunter played for first time since Dec. 20, coming off the bench to score six points in 16 minutes. He missed 19 games with right knee inflammation.

HOUSTON — Jalen Green scored 34 points and Alperen Sengun added 31 to help the Houston Rockets to a 135-119 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday night.

Houston led by as many as 30 points in the second half before the Lakers used a 20-5 run to get within 10 with four minutes left.

The Rockets scored the next six points, with three from Green, to make it 127-111 with about three minutes left and the Lakers removed all their starters.

LeBron James, Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell scored 23 points apiece for the Lakers, who had won two in a row, capped by a 145-144 double-overtime victory over Golden State on Saturday.

Cam Whitmore had 20 points off the bench for Houston, and Jabari Smith Jr. had 18 points and nine rebounds in his return after missing four games with a sprained left ankle. Green and Sengun also had 12 rebounds and seven assists each to help the Rockets to the victory.

The Rockets were up by 25 points after a basket by Sengun with about nine minutes left when the Lakers used a 12-3 run to get within 119-103 midway through the quarter.

Soon after that, James was knocked to the court after being hit in the face by Brooks as the two fought for a rebound. James remained face down on the court for a couple of minutes while team officials attended to him before getting up and walking off the court.

The play was reviewed and determined to be a flagrant 1 foul, and James remained in the game.

James missed both free throws, but made a layup seconds after that to start an 8-2 run that cut the lead to 121-111 with four minutes to go.

The Rockets led by 18 at halftime and opened the third quarter with a 16-4 run to make it 94-64 with about 7½ minutes left in the quarter.

Houston was up by 29 a couple of minutes later before the Lakers used an 11-2 spurt, with five points from Davis, to cut the lead to 101-81 with about two minutes left in the third.

The Lakers' Jarred Vanderbilt was ejected in the second quarter after getting two technical fouls during an exchange with Brooks.

Vanderbilt got his first technical foul after pushing Brooks below the neck after a basket by the Lakers with about 10 minutes left in the second quarter. Brooks was walking away from Vanderbilt and had his back to him when Vanderbilt tapped him on the back of the head, drawing another technical and an immediate ejection.

LOS ANGELES — Anthony Davis had 27 points and 15 rebounds, LeBron James scored 25 and the Los Angeles Lakers snapped the Oklahoma City Thunder's four-game winning streak with a 112-105 victory Monday night.

D'Angelo Russell had 14 points and seven assists as the Lakers held off the powerhouse Thunder in the fourth quarter for only LA's sixth victory in 18 games, with two of those wins coming against Oklahoma City.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 16 of his 24 points in the first half while playing through a right knee sprain for Oklahoma City. The Lakers are responsible for two of the Thunder's four losses in their last 16 games.

Jalen Williams scored 25 points, but Chet Holmgren and Josh Giddey both struggled offensively to a combined 17 points for the Thunder, who opened a key four-game swing against some of the West’s other top teams. Oklahoma City also faces the Clippers and the conference-leading Timberwolves on its trip.

James returned from his fourth missed game of the season due to injury and scored 17 points in the second half. His driving layup with 8:53 to play staked Los Angeles to the game’s first double-digit lead at 93-82.

The Thunder got within six on Gilgeous-Alexander's dunk with 2:05 left, but James drove the lane and dished to Davis for a two-handed slam that essentially sealed the victory with 50 seconds to play.

The Lakers are beginning a two-week stretch in which they won't have to leave Los Angeles, and Davis said last weekend that this six-game sequence will be vital to their hopes of being a playoff contender. They've been stumbling since they won the inaugural In-Season Tournament in early December, unable to overcome a series of injuries or to generate consistent tertiary scoring around James and Davis.

Cam Reddish sat out with knee swelling, and the Lakers went back to a starting backcourt of Russell and Austin Reaves, who scored 15 points.

Davis’ aggressiveness and Holmgren’s early foul trouble contributed to a 64-44 advantage for the Lakers on points in the paint.

The Thunder and Lakers split two games in Oklahoma City earlier this season.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver attended the game one day before a scheduled news conference at the Los Angeles Clippers’ under-construction Intuit Dome in Inglewood, which could be announced as the host of the 2026 NBA All-Star weekend.

LOS ANGELES -- Clippers guard Norman Powell's last-second 3-pointer rimmed out at the buzzer and the Los Angeles Lakers were able to snap a four-game skid with a 106-103 win Sunday, providing a sigh of relief for a team that had been in a tailspin.

"Try to use this to try to catapult a little bit better play from us," LeBron James, who led all scorers with 25 points, said after the game at Crypto.com Arena. "But it still doesn't take away from the fact of how we've been playing like the last 11, 12 games. Tonight was a good start. Hopefully we can start from here and continue to build."

The Lakers' shaky play actually extended back 13 games, as they were just 3-10 since winning the in-season tournament coming into Sunday.

Beyond better execution -- holding a Clippers team that was 14-2 in its past 16 games to just 39.6% shooting -- the Lakers also benefited from more healthy bodies for coach Darvin Ham to use in his rotation.

D'Angelo Russell returned from a three-game absence because of a bruised tailbone to contribute 13 points and 6 assists off the bench -- with 11 of those points coming in the second half -- and Jarred Vanderbilt, who has been hampered by an injured left heel, looked like the type of impact player on the defensive end who was so important in L.A.'s run to the conference finals last spring.

Not to mention, Christian Wood (9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks) and Max Christie (7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks) also had strong games to help the Lakers' bench outscore the Clippers' reserves 31-23.

"All those guys helped us win, made some big shots, timely plays, and that's what we need," said Anthony Davis, who had 22 points and 10 rebounds. "It takes 'the others' to win championships and win basketball games. And these guys played phenomenal tonight. And when these guys are playing well, it just makes me and Bron's job a lot easier."

Ham said the top-to-bottom team effort has to be the Lakers' standard going forward.

"Everybody contributed, competed at a very high level," Ham said. "And I'm proud of them. Now the cat's out the bag for this one, in terms of how we need to approach each and every game and everybody do it as a committee."

James said the Lakers had "too many mistakes still" to believe they've turned everything around in a macro sense. Taurean Prince got an individual shot at redemption in a micro sense when he fouled Powell on a 3-pointer with 2:19 remaining in the fourth, allowing the Clippers guard to tie the game with three free throws, but then hit a 3 of his own and two more free throws in the final 1:17 to help the Lakers win.

"I made that big mistake. ... I just totally misjudged it," Prince said of the foul on Powell. "So I immediately told myself I want to get that play back and the opportunity came and I just took advantage of it."

The Lakers were helped by Kawhi Leonard having a rare off night, missing 11 of 17 shots, including 5 of 7 from behind the arc, for 15 points. Leonard came into the game averaging 24.4 points and 52.1% shooting from the field.

Leonard also sat from the 2:47 mark in the fourth quarter until there were just 17 seconds remaining in a tight game because of a minutes restriction. Leonard, who played 35 minutes, was subbed out for Terance Mann with 2:47 left and the Lakers up 98-95. When he returned with 17 seconds to go, the Lakers led 103-101.

The Clippers host the Phoenix Suns on Monday, the second night of a back-to-back, and this was Leonard's fourth game back after missing four because of a hip injury.

"He was close to his minutes restriction, and we got a back-to-back tomorrow," Clippers coach Ty Lue said. "We got five games in eight days, so my thought was we need him in the game [earlier in the fourth] because the game kind of got away from us a little bit. ... He had to play his extended minutes early in the quarter instead of late in the quarter. So that's on me as a decision that I made to get him in early to come back."

Leonard said he understood why Lue had to sit him in the crux of a tight game.

While Lue held himself accountable for Leonard's minutes, James endorsed his former Cleveland Cavaliers coach, taking umbrage with a reporter labeling the Lakers' in-city rivals as the "James Harden Clippers" by instead naming them after the coach.

"Nah, it's the T-Lue Clippers," James said. "I know T-Lue very well. It don't take T-Lue long to make sure s--- get right. It took him five games, and they've been cooking since."
