From 2020. They must have recorded this before Covid lockdowns started.

I like jazz but don't know much about the different types. Is there a good resource that lays it out?

The bass player in Zbigniew Namysłowski is fucking awesome, first time in a while I've really heard the bass stand out all they way through tunes.

Getting knee deep into Mingus at the moment but

curious for bass heavy recommendations?

I got to see this trio live a few years ago and come back to this video when I need a reminder of that experience. Great stuff.

I've just listened to these two CTI records from 1974 / 75 on vg+ vinyl copies:

Chet Baker - She Was Too Good To Me (1974) https://www.discogs.com/release/1496688-Chet-Baker-She-Was-Too-Good-To-Me

And

Jim Hall - Concierto (1975)

https://www.discogs.com/release/10142398-Jim-Hall-Concierto

They share a group of greats, including Baker, Ron Carter and Steve Gadd. Musically, I love these records. But on my setup at least, Gadd sounds like he's playing on a couple of old suitcases. The snare and bass drum are super muffled, unlike all the other instruments. The trumpet, bass, etc... sound fine.

Is this just my copies or was this how it was recorded by CTI? Really curious what's going on and I couldn't find info by searching.
