My wife and i both started studying Swedish and find the audio impossible to understand. To me it sounds like the words are playing over one another. The only way i can understand what is being said it's to play the audio on slow.

I have been doing the Finnish course (and almost have completed it) and do not have this issue in it. Yes, there are times on occasion when i need to play it slow, but for the most part i can understand.

German completed! 👍 (self.duolingo)

Just finished all the section from 1 to 5 (A1 A2 B1) in 170 days for the German course. The leagues really helped my motivation to grind the hours and be focus in learning daily. Average 1 to 2 hours per day week day and sometimes a bit more in the weekend.

It has been fun all along. I’m definitely not fluent speaker but I have started to think how to say small sentence in German without struggle and looking to read more German to increase my vocabulary.

I remember that way back around 2015 the double XP boost used to stack, so you could get a 4x multiplier, but I don't think that I've ever got a triple.

Milestone unlocked. Aiming for the minimum of 1 lesson a day compounds over the years. @duolingo is my most consistent habit, along with daily reading.

Aim to read the minimum of 1 minute a day and you’ll find you’re reading the whole chapter or more on normal days.

As an android user, I am a little jealous of the apple users who have access.

Also I still have the Duolingo tree. I haven’t updated the app in nearly a year.

I just came back today after years away and I have thousands of gems but I don't see any cool duo clothes or really anything to buy with my leftover gems, am I missing something? Did they remove all the duo outfits and stuff to buy with gems?

Thanks

Seriously? (lemmy.world)

This seems hugely unfair of Duolingo

Before, completing the last lesson of a group (e.g. completing 5 of 5) activated a 15 minute boost. Which allowed me stop doing lessons at 4/5 and do practice instead. Later that day, I could complete lesson 5 to get a boost for a new session.

Now, these activation steps seem to be randomly scattered across lessons. Sometimes it's lesson 2, sometimes 5. Never the last one.

Did anyone else notice this? Any idea why? How do you deal with it?

It leads me to learn longer than I actually wanted (because I accidentally trigger boosts), or leads to me 'wasting' boosts, both of which feels bad.
